GONG BATH MEDITATION

DATE : Approximately 3-4 times per month

DETAILS : Experience the profound healing and deep relaxation with the sounds of the gongs and other percussion instruments, in this sound meditation with Masha at The Sand and Sound Centre in Glossop, occasionally at other venues.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring something comfortable to lie on (sleeping bag, folded up duvet etc), a blanket and a pillow, so that you can make a cosy "nest" for yourself, which will help you feel relaxed and enjoy the beautiful healing sounds. It helps to have a bottle of water with you, as we need to be well-hydrated, especially after the session, in order to get the full benefits from the healing sounds.

BEFORE AND AFTER

It is best not to have any alcohol or any other mind-altering substances for 24 hours before and 24 hours after the gong bath. Try not to schedule any other appointments or tasks immediately after the gong bath meditation, as it is best to take it easy if you can, since the healing effects continue for some time afterwards.

SAND & SOUND MINI RETREAT

DATE : Usually last weekend of the month from June 2021

DETAILS : The Sand and Sound Mini Retreats offer an immersive experience into the transformational power of Sandplay and Sound. These weekends are a gentle invitation for you to play, rest, create, feel, relax, cry, laugh, be still, connect with others - but most importantly with yourself - deeply. Small groups of maximum 6 to 8 people.

The mini retreats typically start on Friday evening, and finish Sunday lunchtime (or sometimes, for bank holiday weekends, start on Saturday evening and finish Monday lunchtime).

Please note that these mini-retreats are non-residential, i.e. you will have to find and book your own accommodation in the local area (a list of possible accommodation will be provided).

*Mini Retreat Costs*

The normal cost of these mini-retreats £225 per person, but in 2021 I will be offering them at a reduced rate of £199, which can be payable in instalments. A deposit of £60 reserves your place.

Included in the cost: Light refreshments throughout the weekeend - please inform Masha of any special dietary requirements at least two weeks before the retreat date. Main meals are not provided - please bring your own packed lunch or you can buy food at local shops and cafes nearby.

*Location*

Glossop is a town in North Derbyshire on the edge of Peak Distric, approximately 35 minutes on the train from the centre of Manchester (between 30min and 1 hour+ drive depending on traffic), about 45 min drive from Sheffield, 1 hour from Leeds.

If you arrive early on the first day or decide to leave later on the last day, you can take the advantage of some lovely walks in the area (we will also have two long 2 hour breaks on Sunday).

*Who can book*

No previous experience required. However, if you are currently feeling vulnerable, are pregnant, experiencing significant physical or mental health issues or ongoing trauma sympoms, please discuss the suitability of these retreats with Masha prior to booking. *About the Retreat Facilitator*

Masha Bennett is a UKCP registered psychotherapist, psychotherapy trainer and clinical supervisor, sandplay therapist and tutor for the Association for Integrative Sandplay Therapists, and tutor/gong practitioner with the College of Sound Healing. After her early career in zoology, botany and horticulture, she has been working with adults and young people therapeutically for about 20 years, in prisons, probation service, residential children’s homes, NHS, primary school, charities, and in private practice. Masha is a trauma specialist and has an MSc in Therapeutic Practice for Psychological Trauma from the University of Chester, she is an accredited EMDR Europe Practitioner, trainer in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and also teachers courses on Trauma Awareness to professionals and general public. In her spare time Masha paints pictures, walks her two border collies and has many cups of tea in her wild woodland garden

PART ONE - AN INTRODUCTION TO SOUND HEALING WITH THE VOICE

DETAILS : Open to participation for your own interest and self development as well as a start on your journey to qualify as a Sound Healing Practitioner, once four further weekends spread through the year ahead and all criteria have been completed. This is a non-residential course set in a peaceful rural location, approximately half an hour from Lincoln towards the coast.

There will be short breaks in the morning and afternoon with approximately an hours lunch time.

SHAMANIC HEALING PRACTITIONER TRAINING

DETAILS : This is a course comprised of two weekends.  Weekend one which will take place on 20-21st May.  Weekend two which will take place on 16-17th September.

Both weekends and 12 case studies will need to be completed for Shamanic Healing Practitioner Certification.

This course is based on a traditional Lakota Grandfather Wallace Black Elk North Native American form of healing and lineage working with power animals and helping spirits, drumming, rattling, offering prayers and sacred chants.  

You will learn various healing techniques including shamanic power animal retrieval and soul retrieval on part 1 and soul energy release; intrusion removal or extraction and rattle healing on part 2. 

Shamanic Soul Retrieval enables people suffering from soul loss, which is an energetic fragmentation of the self, due to trauma, back to wholeness, through returning these lost soul fragments. Soul loss can be described as a self-mechanism to shield and protect you from the pain of trauma.

Within Shamanic practice, losing soul fragments essentially means losing your life force energy which is extremely disempowering. If the soul is not restored, the body can become so imbalanced that it causes mental, emotional, or physical disease.

During a Shamanic healing, we are either removing energy within our client that does not belong to them or we are returning energy that is outside our client that belongs within them such as their lost soul parts.

In our modern-day world, we are experiencing an epidemic of soul loss on a collective level. This may well be the cause of many of the issues that are detrimentally affecting our society today. Examples of such widespread issues include crime, disease, abusive relationships, addiction and mental health issues.

We feel more like ourselves when we are complete and whole in the present. Soul retrieval is one of the most effective Shamanic Healing methods. If you lose a soul part, it’s like a whole part of you is lost, as your split off soul part is like a holographic piece of you. 

When soul loss occurs, it may cause openings and gaps in your auric field. By returning your client’s soul part, you are essentially helping to restore their auric field and repair any tears that the soul loss caused.

The Shamanic Healing Practitioner Training Course is a follow on course for people who have already completed one of the College of Sound Healing Practitioner Courses or have completed other healing courses and are already practising other healing modalities.

CRYSTALS, COLOUR & SOUND AND INTRODUCTION

DETAILS : This is an introduction workshop where you will be learning about about the history of some of the major groups of crystals and their properties and their use in our everyday life. How to clear, energise and programme your crystals. We will look at using colour in our everyday life, and how colour effects us on many levels. We will also look at the chakras and energy system and the colours usually associated with them. How we can work with the chakras using crystals, sound and colour. The healing power of sound and how music can effect us on many levels. The benefits of yogic breathing and toning. The day will be a mixture of theory and practice along with group exercises which will include:- chakra balancing, cleansing the energy field, programming,ergising and cleansing crystals. Energising your drinking water with quartz crystal energy, toning, crystal bowl sounds, combining crystals, colour and sound. We will have crystals to use during the training, and there will also be some to purchase if you wish. If you have your own crystals then please bring them along. This workshop is suitable for all of you that wish to learn a little about combining crystals, colour and sound. This workshop serves as one of the two additional workshops for the Voice Practitioner Training or the l day workshop for the Crystal and Himalayan Bowl Practitioner Training, or 7 hours CPD. DRUM MAKING WORKSHOP - WITH LOCAL DEER SKIN

DETAILS : Do you want to create your own Shamanic drum in the most sacred and connected experience ?
We have the most incredible experience to offer you. Within this workshop you can craft your drum from the raw materials if you wish. This really deepens you connection with your drum like no other.

I work with Sarah Brackpool, who works closely with the process of the Deer skins, and makes drums.

I feel this experience deepens ancestral connection too while working with the deer skins. We use flint scrapers made by archaeologist Will Attard, @the pointy end uk
Using the flint tools, working with your hands, really augments the connection to your drums skin, to the spiritual and practical essence of being human, and ancestral connection.

To add to the depth, this workshop will held be on the lands, in the woodland, where the deer that gifted their skins have ran free.

Day one will start in the afternoon with honouring the deer in ceremony, slipping the fur and preparing the skin.
The evening will bring working on your hoop around a fire with song, and ceremony.

Sunday will be cutting the hide you have prepared, and weaving your drum together.
You can craft a single sided or double sided drum.

Hoops will be 14 and 16 inches.
Double sided drums are 14 inch because of weight.

 

Cost will be £300 for both days for single sided 14 inch drums.

£250 if you want to use pre prepared skin and come Sunday only. (pre prepared means hair and fat is slipped already).

 

Extra Costs will be for double sided drums, and bigger drum hoops:

Double sided an extra £50 will be added due to extra deer skin.14 inch drum hoop drum is 300.

16 inch add an extra £20.

We will look forward to sharing this sacred weekend with you.

PART ONE - AN INTRODUCTION TO SOUND HEALING WITH THE VOICE

Part One can be a standalone course. You are required to attend just one of the Part One weekends before progressing to Part Two.

 

The College of Sound Healing Practitioner Training with the Voice (CoSH)® is taught in 5 weekend modules.

 

What you may need to know before you arrive:

It is helpful if participants have had some experience or knowledge of healing and voice work, you do not need to be a musician or be able to sing in tune. Please contact to me to chat about your suitability if you need any assurances that its right for you.

 

The five modules will take you on a journey through this ancient form of healing, giving you an understanding of how to use Sound for your own wellbeing and how to administer it to others. This core training primarily uses the Voice and Tuning Forks. Additional instruments can be explored within the two additional workshops required as part of the training.

PART ONE serves as an introduction to using the voice for healing, and helps the participant connect to their voice with breathing techniques and exercises. It should be noted that a musical background is not required for this training, just a willingness to connect to the voice and sound it!

 

FROM PART TWO onwards,  students will need to become student members of the College in order to gain insurance to carry out case studies. It will also be necessary to purchase C and G Tuning Forks at this stage.

 

The course is a balance of theory and practical.

 

WHERE:

All modules will be held at the Harmony Hub, Chorley.  Parking is subject to a charge directly opposite the centre.  There is easy road access to the M6, M61 and M65 and easy rail access.

 

COURSE TIMINGS are: Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm

Drinks and snacks will be provided, but you will need to bring a packed lunch.

Please come along in comfy clothes and perhaps bring a blanket/shawl as you can often feel cool after giving/receiving a treatment.

INTRODUCTION TO HIMALAYAN SINGING BOWLS

DETAILS : Learn how to use laughter as a medicine and to lead a laughter workshop mindfully when people don't feel like laughing. Learn about the benefits and history of laughter yoga, start your own laughter club and bring sunshine and healing to local communities.

Laughter yoga involves laughter games, connecting to your inner child, gentle movements (no yoga poses involved, anyone can do it), laughter meditation, healing pain with laughter, deep breathing, opening up creativity (making up new games) finishing with relaxation or grounding dance meditation.

Learn at least 40 laughter exercises and how to lead a 30 - 90 minute laughter yoga session. This course was outlined by a medical doctor, the founder of laughter yoga, Dr Madan Kataria from India. Taught by Anetta an FHT Accredited Laughter Yoga Teacher with lots of experience of running laughter clubs.

 

Anetta led sessions at hen parties, old people's home, centres for young adults with learning difficulties, team building for companies, parents and kids clubs) and festivals: Larmer Tree, Colourfest, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, Sculpture by The Lakes, World Yoga Festival, Goren Festival in England, UK.

DETAILS : This course is taken over three weekends with a three month period between each weekend. Completion of the training will give the participants the knowledge and tools required to become a Crystal Bowl and Himalayan Bowl Practitioner.

In Module One we will be looking at Sound Healing in general, and then start to learn and work with crystal bowls, the energy system and crystal bowls, cleansing, programming and working one-to-one as a therapy.

Module Two covers working with Himalayan Bowls one-to-one, we look at the different types, how they are made, playing techniques and advanced techniques and layouts. There will be plenty of practice time on this course with your fellow students.

In Module Three we will be looking at working with Groups and Sound Healing. Choosing a location, cost of venues and booking, cleansing and protecting the healing space, public awareness during sound bath, insurance. Different techniques working with various sounds, instruments and voice during a sound bath. Advertising the event plus lots more.

In order to be awarded a Practitioner Certificate a total of 18 case studies will need to be completed and there will be an assessment on giving a group sound bath which is covered on Part Three.

DETAILS : Gently discover the power of your authentic voice while learning to use it for the benefit of self and others in this comprehensive practitioner course.  Successful graduation will result in your accreditation as a professional sound healer.

The Core Curriculum comprises five weekend workshops taken over 12 - 18 months.  At Part One, students will be informally appraised to see if they are ready to progress onto the remaining four parts of the course.

Continuing onwards requires your commitment to complete what has been described by past students of this course as a personally transformative, often profound, learning experience.  

I am particularly looking forward to offering Sound Healing with the Voice at the Eskdalemuir Old School Community Hub and Café in Langholm.  Situated in a beautiful valley on the White Esk River, just a stone's throw from the Kagyu Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery and the stone circles of Loupin and Girdle Staines.

The Old School Hub has a safe and welcoming atmosphere and we have been invited to work in the cosy but ample gallery space, complete with it's log burner and thoughtfully designed acoustics.  These features make it all the more 'made for' a course such as this.

In keeping with the fixed College of Sound Healing price structure for the course, the cost for each weekend workshop will be £220.  

Payment for each workshop must be made a month before the date of each workshop.  A non-refundable deposit of £80 will secure your place on Part One.  For those continuing onwards towards the diploma, a further deposit will be required before Part Two.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a pillow and blanket, plus a treatment bed if you have one.  Light refreshments will be provided but you will need a packed lunch for each day of the course.  Alternatively you can buy a lovely meal in the adjoining café at a subsidised price. 

All workshops run at the following times: Sat: 10am - 5pm;  Sun: 10am - 4pm.

This is a non-residential course, but information can be provided on the many local accommodation options, including at Samye Ling Monastery which is 1.2 miles away (3 mins by car, 20 mins on foot).  

There is plenty of parking opposite the hub. The nearest train station is Lockerbie, from where there are buses into Eskdalemuir and Langholm.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any access queries.

DETAILS : With sound we can tend to our inner world, aid our physical healing and health, harmonise and develop our energetic system.

Sound is a dynamic form of vibration and is amazing at working with energy, as our energy is also dynamic vibration. Harmonious, balanced and aligned energy exists in a state of ‘flowing wholeness’ (ref. Lucy Crisfield) - this is the perfect state of health and vitality. Experiences on our life journey inevitably cause this flow to become unbalanced, restricted and dissonant which results in dis-ease, disfunction and ultimately illness. Practices and properties of Sound and Sound Healing can serve to unbind, release and restore this healthy flowing wholeness. 

Beyond this, it can also be a powerful tool for growth, through ‘developing’ and ‘enhancing’ our energy system.

 

In this workshop we will take a deeper dive into aspects of sound and healing, some of which you may not have thought of in these ways before. Every aspect will be hands on and experiential, allowing you to get a feel for how it all works for you. This workshop is for anyone wishing to go deeper into the world of sound healing, and is great for practitioners of any healing modality, wishing to enhance their practice.
