DETAILS :
The Gong Practitioner Training is held at the beautiful CoRE Environmental Education Centre in Halstock, West Dorset, a truly special setting designed for deep learning and transformation. Surrounded by 20 acres of woodland, river, ponds, and wildflower meadows, CoRE offers bespoke therapeutic spaces including a handcrafted wooden cabin, yurts, and creative workshop areas. Originally developed to support young people through ecotherapy, this peaceful rural environment provides the perfect container for immersive sound healing training close to nature. This nurturing, purpose-built setting allows you to deepen your connection to sound, intuition, and presence, while learning within a grounded, heart-centred environment.
Developed by Gong Master and Head Gong Tutor Sheila Whittaker, the training is a one-year CMA-certificated programme led by Aleka, whose personal healing journey and connection to the Sheila Whittaker lineage infuses the course with warmth, compassion, and gentle wisdom in a nurturing space. You’ll receive expert tuition, individual mentorship and supervised practice to develop your unique gong-playing style and master the art and science of sound healing with the gong.
The course is offered in a supportive small-group learning environment, designed to strengthen your skills and deepen your relationship with the gong, with coursework and case studies in between modules to integrate your learning and build your confidence as a Gong Practitioner. Students will need to buy their own gong by weekend 2. Support in selecting the best gong for each student will be given during the first weekend. Completion of this training will empower you with the knowledge, skills and expertise to share the healing power of the gong with others as a Certified Gong Practitioner.
This is a non-residential training. You can book accommodation off-site at the many local bed and breakfast and Airbnb options. There is a fully equipped kitchen onsite, so please bring a packed lunch and snacks for both Saturday and Sunday. Please note that the nearest shops/restaurants are 15 minutes away. Students should bring a mat, blanket and cushion to receive a gong bath, a notepad and pen to take notes, and indoor shoes as outdoor shoes are not allowed in the training space. You may also want to bring wellies or walking shoes as there are nature spots nearby.
The total investment for the Gong Practitioner Training Course is £1,750 - a non-refundable £100 deposit secures your place, with the balance for weekend 1 and each of the remaining training weekends due one month beforehand. There is an earlybird, pay-in-full 10% discount, as well as an option to pay in instalments. Please request information about these options via email.
